What Can I Do Near My Ratchada Hotel in Bangkok?

If you’ve already booked to stay at a Ratchada hotel in Bangkok, you may now be asking yourself, “what can I do nearby”? That’s an excellent question! Although it’s arguably one of the city’s lesser-known areas, compared to the likes of Sathorn, Bang Rak, Khlong Toei, Lumphini, Pathum Wan and Din Daeng, it is very much up-and-coming and has plenty to offer the intrepid traveler.

Once you start doing some research, you’ll quickly realize that Ratchada is both conveniently located to get out‘n’about across the city and also offers a lot of great activities right on your doorstep. Check out our following top four list, and you won’t have a shortage of fun ways to fill your days and nights in Ratchada.

1.Art in Paradise

If you like the quirky, unique and memorable, you’ll love Art in Paradise. This 3D art museum is located inside Esplanade Shopping Mall and features an extensive array of innovative artworks on the ceiling, floor, and walls. Here, you don’t just passively look at the art – you become the art! That’s right, you “step into” the artwork and pose as part of the piece. For example, get eaten by a giant shark, ride on a magic carpet and cross a rickety bridge in the jungle.

2.Bounce

If art isn’t your thing, how about bouncing? Say what! And no, this isn’t just for kids, it’s for adults too. Bounce Thailand, by way of Australia, is the ultimate in trampoline fun. Claiming to be Asia’s largest indoor jump park, it features 5,600 sqm of trampolines, divided into different zones. The large space features 80 interconnected trampolines on which you can free jump, tumble, and dive to your heart’s content. Once you get sick of that, head on over to the Dodgeball court for some more adrenaline-pumping action.

3.Siam Niramit

One of Bangkok’s most iconic and best-loved shows happens every night in the 2,00-seat Ratchada Theatre; it is the Siam Niramit spectacular stage show. This drama tells the illustrious story of ancient Siam (Thailand), encompassing its culture, religions, and history. Throughout 3 acts, almost 200 performers and amazing special effects, lighting and sound equipment will have you on the edge of your seat. Oh, and if all that wasn’t appealing enough, there are also elephants in the show too! You can see the show or opt for a show and dinner deal, including a Thai buffet feast before the gala.

4.Train Night Market

Situated behind Esplanade Shopping Mall, the Train Night Market Ratchada is a sprawling outdoor market open from 5:00 pm to 1:00 am every night. Here you’ll find an eclectic range of stalls selling everything from vintage records and funky T-shirts to knock-off handbags, iPhone covers, bonsai plants, and henna tattoos. There is also a staggering array of food available too, with everything from pad thai and meat skewers to pizza and pancakes available. And in the very back, you’ll find an assortment of old VW vans and shipping containers that have been turned into funky bars with live music.
