The Irishman has also appeared on the cover of Men’s Health and following his loss to Nate Diaz at UFC 196, McGregor weighed in on his defeat and detailed how overtraining can affect a human being’s workout regime.
“I didn’t lose [to Diaz] on skill; I lost on stamina. My greatest strength is my work ethic. And my greatest weakness is my work ethic. Leading up to Diaz, I was fu**ed from overtraining.”
McGregor also likes to believe in mobility and is fond of stretching. Stretching remains a vital part of a pre-workout routine, and as we age over the years, chances of picking up injuries gradually increase as our flexibility and mobility start decreasing. This is what McGregor’s advice in terms of mobility:
“We’re the only animal that wakes up and doesn’t stretch.”
Another vital mantra that Conor McGregor likes to follow in terms of fitness is the fact that a human being’s body weight is more of an important tool than the gym machinery that one usually prefers to. McGregor even stated: “Machines don’t use machines. And I am a machine.”
